At Baer & Edington, we use our years of combined experience to offer not only the traditional accounting services but we take service one step further and develop long term relationships with our clients.
We make the commitment to understand our clients businesses and individual situations so we can help them make decisions to improve their business or individual financial position. Our goal is for our clients to feel like we are their partners as well as their accountants.

Mr. Baer graduated with honors from Murray State University in 1991. Upon graduating, he worked for two local accounting firms until he joined our current firm in January of 1994.
On November 1st, 1995, he was offered a partnership in the firm and became the sole owner in December of 2001 when his partner retired. Mr. Baer relies on his years of public accounting experience when serving his client’s needs and he specializes in business consulting as well as tax planning. In his spare time, Jeff is an avid cycler. He teaches cycling classes at Health Point Fitness. Jeff is married to Melissa and they have three children, Emma, Ashlyn and Elise.

Angie Miskell, Accountant/IT, Firm Partner - Jackson

Angie graduated from Jackson High School in 1979 and was hired part-time at a CPA firm through the COOP program. She attended Southeast Missouri State University on a one year business program and then was hired on full time in 1981 at the CPA firm, which eventually became part of our current firm.
Her knowledge of accounting and tax preparation has been gained through experience and CPE courses over a period of twenty-five + years. Angie specializes in individual income tax preparation as well as payroll and financial statement preparation. On January 1, 2007, Angie became a partner in Baer & Edington. In her spare time, Angie loves to cook and play the piano. Angie has one daughter, Christina, who is married and lives in Alabama.

Dana Steffens, CPA, Firm Partner - Jackson

Dana graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Missouri-St Louis in 1988. That same year she began her career at a large national public accounting firm in the auditing department and remained with them for four years.
She then worked in the private accounting sector for five years including the healthcare and manufacturing industries. Mrs. Steffens joined our firm in 1997 and she specializes in audit, review, and compilation services as well as QuickBooks setup and consulting. On January 1, 2006, Mrs. Steffens became a partner in Baer & Edington. Dana is married to Kerry and they have three children, Bret, Trent and Chase.
Geoff Smith, HR & Marketing - Jackson & Columbia
Geoff Smith currently fills two roles at Baer & Edington. In the marketing capacity, the Firm will be expanding its market presence in and beyond the Central and Southeast Missouri regions. Geoff has 16 years of product development and account management experience, predominantly within Non Profit, Manufacturing and Healthcare. Geoff also serves as the Human Resources Director for the Firm.
An avid cyclist, you will find Geoff logging miles in and around both Columbia and Jackson, as well as in the studio where he also teaches indoor cycling at HealthPoint in Cape Girardeau, MO. Geoff is active in the Cape Girardeau community, serving on the Outdoor Energy Efficiency Committee for the city as well as a variety of committees to support the efforts of Old Town Cape.
A Baer & Edington partner, Cheryl has over 25 years experience in the field, specializing in small business issues, international tax, and new business planning and consulting. Cheryl is proud of the personal touch and attention to detail that Baer & Edington offers to clients. With knowledge and care, the Firm’s team members work together to help clients achieve success.
Cheryl is an active member of the community, involved in church activities, Pascale’s Pals, Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Network, and the Central Chapter of the Missouri Society of CPAs. Cheryl is married with two children and three dogs. In her spare time she enjoys the Katy Trail, Tae Kwon Do, and spending time with family.
Rose fell in love with income tax preparation after taking a class to learn how to prepare her own tax return. A certified public accountant, Rose specializes in start-up businesses, tax planning and cash flow planning.
Rose is proud of Baer & Edington’s specializations in many areas: international tax, trusts and estates, complex securities transactions, and small business consulting. Rose consistently aims to deliver expert service with a personal touch.
Outside of Baer & Edington Rose is involved with her church, Granny’s House, Love Inc., Healing Rooms, and Business Network International. She and her husband, David, share their newly-built dream home with Tigger, their Pomeranian-Sheltie mix. Rose has two children, three grandchildren, and is an avid MU football fan.

Deb Harrington, CPA, Tax Manager - Columbia

Deb joined Baer & Edington in January 2004, building on her many years of experience in the field of accounting. Deb specializes in tax planning and consulting, trusts and estates, and business consulting. The manager of the Columbia office, Deb also ensures all projects receive timely attention and accuracy.
Away from the office, you'll probably find Deb in the stands of a basketball court, softball or soccer field, or cross country course cheering on her children. Deb also enjoys long walks with her husband and dog, reading a good book, or baking her famous banana bread.
Jeffrey W Slinkard, CPA, Tax Manager- Jackson

Jeff graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in May of 1995. He has over 14 years of combined experience in private and public accounting. He joined the Baer & Edington team in June 2004. He specializes in preparing business and individual income tax returns, tax planning, reviews and personal financial statements as well as payroll and financial statement preparation. Jeff is married to Heather and they have three children, Tyler, Tanner and Jenna.
Whitney Jackman, Accountant-Enrolled Agent - Columbia

Whitney holds a BA in Business Administration and Accounting from Drury College as well as her Enrolled Agent certification. Whitney’s eight years of experience in the field of public accounting enriches her client service in the areas of international, individual, and corporate accounting. She is also one of our QuickBooks experts and is always eager to answer any QuickBooks question.
Whitney enjoys spending time with her daughter, Cameryn, as they read, play games, and assemble puzzles together.

Tyson J Shoemaker, Staff Accountant - Jackson

Tyson graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in December 2009 with a major in accounting and a minor in management information systems. Tyson joined the firm in January 2009 and specializes in financial statement preparation, Quick Books, Payroll, and indivudual income tax preparation. Tyson is married to Leigh.

Shortly before graduating Southeast Missouri State University in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Melanie joined our firm as a Staff Accountant. She specializes in financial statement preparation, individual and corporate tax preparation, and Quick Books setup and maintenance.
When she is not working, Melanie and her husband Joe enjoy spending time with their daughter Maddie, traveling, attending baseball games and hanging out with their three dogs and two cats.

David Seabaugh joined Baer & Edington in December of 2010 to lead the Firm’s new audit division. A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, David has over seventeen years of audit and accounting expertise. David’s audit experience includes 4.5 years at the Missouri State Auditor’s Office in Jefferson City, and then continued to develop his audit experience at a Cape Girardeau public accounting firm for the next thirteen years. David has conducted a wide variety of audits such as non-profit, governmental, state agency, cost certification, and small business. David also has extensive experience in review engagements and compilations, rounding out his accounting acumen.
Helping clients meet their reporting requirements, providing answers to accounting problems and working alongside clients to improve accounting systems are what David enjoys most about his public accounting role.
David and Lynda, his wife of twelve years, have two children: Kyle, who will turn 9 years old in January, and Anna, 4 years old. A Jackson, Missouri native, David is a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also is very involved in Kyle’s Little League baseball team and the Boy Scout program, serving as Den Leader. An Eagle scout, David still enjoys the challenges of assisting young scouts to reach their scouting potential. Other interests include coaching and NASCAR. The Seabaugh family especially enjoys vacationing at the Gulf Shores area.
Ben Kirn, Staff Accountant -Jackson
Ben graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in May 2011 with a B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting. Ben also holds a B.S. in Industrial Technology/Graphic Communications from Millersville University, Pennsylvania, working in the print industry for several years in digital prepress services prior to this position. He was introduced to the firm through the Harrision College of Business internship program prior to graduation and offered a permanent position with our staff. Ben is currently pursuing his CPA, with an estimated completion by Fall, 2012.
Ben transitioned to Accounting primarily because he enjoys the pursuit of solving complex problems and mastering conceptually challenging concepts. Ben is married to his wife Emily and they reside in Cape Girardeau.
Laura Bollinger, Payroll Supervisor-Jackson

Laura graduated from SEMO University in May of 2010 with a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. Laura joined Baer & Edington in July 2011 and specializes in payroll preparation and compliance.
Laura also received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Organ Performance from SEMO University in 2003. On Sunday mornings, Laura shares her talent with the congregation of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, MO. Away from work, Laura enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and cheering for the UNC Tar Heels.
Dodie graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1973. She opened her own Accounting and Tax Preparation firm in 1975 and was the sole proprietor until she opted to merge with Baer & Edington in 2011.
With over 35 years of experience, Dodie has found her niche in Tax Preparation, Tax Planning and QuickBooks. When not working, she enjoys gardening, golfing, entertaining and music. Dodie is also married to her college sweetheart, Denny.
Sasha Whittle, Staff Accountant - Columbia
Originally from Samara, Russia and working in accounting in her home city, Sasha moved to Missouri in 1998 primarily to learn the English language. She also enrolled in college and sought out employment – even when she didn’t yet know any English! Sasha holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Truman State University and brings 10 years of accounting experience to Baer & Edington.
When not at work, Sasha enjoys spending time with her husband, Shannon, and two children, Allison and Damon.
Kristy Landewee, Staff Accountant - Jackson
From the small town of New Hamburg, Kristy took the advice of her father, taking an accounting course in high school. Immediately enjoying the subject, Krsity further pursed accounting as a major while attending Southeast Missouri State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in December 2009. Kristy sees accounting as a puzzle, having to find her way to just the right answer. She enjoys the fact that public accounting laws and regulations continually change, keeping the industry interesting and challenging.
Kristy is settling in at Baer & Edington and looks forward to each day of work in the Jackson office, feeling welcome and a part of the team. She likes the firm's community involvement through events and donations such as the most recent Special Olympics Polar Bear Plunge. Away from work, Kristy enjoys spending time with her family and husband. Like most women, Kristy's other favorite pastimeis shopping--and adding to her Snowbabies collection. Kristy and her husband, TIm, live in Chaffee, MO.
